Police raze a second hash farm in Attica
Officers from the Attica police narcotics unit yesterday discovered a massive cannabis farm in Malakasa, north of Athens, the second large-scale, well-organized plantation to be traced in the prefecture in the past two weeks. Members of the narcotics unit got to work on uprooting a forest of more than 700 cannabis plants, some up to 3 meters tall, after the plantation was spotted from the sky by a police helicopter. An inspection of the plantation revealed that it had been rigged with an automatic watering system and was flanked by a workshop where the cannabis is believed to have been processed. There was no sign of the cultivators. The discovery came just two weeks after officers found a huge cannabis farm near Mount Parnitha, comprising 880 trees, a sophisticated irrigation system and seven wooden huts with beds and cooking utensils.
