Turk reporters ushered away from Rho islet

Coast guard sources yesterday denied claims by Turkish journalists that the latter were detained after filming Greek soldiers on the islet of Rho in the eastern Aegean, insisting that the TV reporters had only been warned. According to the coast guard, a patrol boat approached a Turkish yacht after the men on board were seen filming a guard post on the rocky outcrop, which is just over a kilometer from the Turkish coast. Coast guard officers boarded the yacht, searched the vessel and then informed the journalists, who said they were from the IHA network, that they were in Greek territorial waters. They were asked to leave but no equipment or footage that had been shot by the crew was confiscated. About half an hour later and under the watch of a Turkish navy frigate, the yacht left Greek waters.
