Safecracker suffers an alarming experience

Police officers and emergency workers had to knock through a wall at a bank in Kaisariani, eastern Athens, early yesterday after a robber sneaked into the safe on Friday and became trapped there. Authorities reacted after the 30-year-old Bulgarian set off the alarm inadvertently. Police believe that, after posing as a customer, the suspect somehow managed to get into the safe unnoticed. While in there, he began emptying safe deposit boxes but, at some point, the alarm started to sound. The bank manager as well as police arrived soon afterward but were unable to reset the security system. As a result, the EMAK rescue team was called in to knock down one of the safe’s walls. The 30-year-old was in good health when he was pulled out but was immediately arrested.
