Two more objectives

Doing up Aristotle’s Lyceum on Rigillis Street and Plato’s Academy, the world’s oldest universities, are the other two projects that make up Culture Minister Antonis Samaras’s vision for major cultural-environmental projects in Athens. Funding of 4.5 million euros from the OPAP gaming company has been secured for work on the Lyceum, a project that has been in abeyance for years. The plans include joining up the 3.6-hectare archaeological park with the grounds of the Byzantine and Christian Museum and the construction of an ultra-modern roof to protect the famous architectural finds. Let us hope that funding can be found soon for work on Plato’s Academy.
