A large fire…

A thick cloud of smoke rises up above a dairy goods factory in the industrial area of Rouf, central Athens, where a large fire broke out early yesterday. A contingent comprising 60 firefighters manning 19 engines was dispatched to curb the blaze and had managed to partially contain it by late yesterday. According to firefighters, the blaze broke out in the basement of the factory, owned by EVGA, one of the major dairy producers in the Greek market, before quickly spreading to engulf most of the building. It was unclear what caused the fire, which provoked the evacuation of some 500 staff and minor injuries to one employee.
