Guns, explosives, skulls found in police raid
A 61-year-old man from Edessa, northern Greece, was detained on multiple charges yesterday after a police raid on his home turned up a large cache of weapons and explosives as well as archaeological artifacts and three human skulls. The suspect, a metallurgist by trade, was found to be hiding several different types of guns and ammunition, an explosive device comprising dynamite, several knives and swords, an ancient bronze coin and a fragment of a tomb dating to the Byzantine period. The skulls, which had also been hidden inside the house, were being inspected by police forensic experts yesterday. Meanwhile officers were examining a list containing personal information about local police officers, judges and other state functionaries that was found on the suspect’s computer.
