Report shows fast flu spread

As health authorities reported the deaths of another three patients with swine flu, bringing the total number of fatalities in Greece to 28, the Center for Infectious Diseases Control (KEEL) revealed that the number of cases of H1N1 confirmed in laboratories had increased sharply last week compared to the week before. According to KEEL, 2,274 people tested positive for the H1N1 virus in the week beginning November 23 as compared to 1,883 in the week beginning November 16 – an increase of 20 percent. KEEL also noted an increase in absences of pupils from primary and secondary schools, up to 14 percent of class members last week as compared to 9 percent in the previous week. Meanwhile thousands of citizens continued to visit inoculation centers across the country yesterday, bringing the number of those vaccinated to 155,096.
