Compensation
The Olympic marathon course will require the expropriation of 216,980 square meters of land between Marathon and Pallini. Compensation will come from the public investment program. The areas in question are in the following municipalities, on either side of the Olympic marathon route. – 70,155 square meters along Marathon Avenue in the municipality of Marathon. – 49,426 square meters along Marathon Avenue in the municipality of Nea Makri. – 38,277 square meters along Marathon Avenue in the municipalities of Rafina and Pikermi. – 59,128 square meters along Marathon Avenue in the municipalities of Pikermi and Pallini. A series of other administrative acts regarding the credits for the Olympic marathon course cover all the legal costs (such as deviations from existing provisions regarding public works). These credits amount to 135 million euros (47.6 billion drachmas).
