Teen was ‘bullied by peers’ for five years

A teenager has been arrested in Thessaloniki and police are seeking another youth after allegations made by a 16-year-old boy that the pair had bullied him repeatedly over the last five years, forcing him to give them some 3,000 euros, police said yesterday. In a possibly unprecedented case for Greek police, the 16-year-old told officers that the two teenagers had repeatedly beaten him or threatened to attack him at various times over the last five years. The alleged assailants demanded payments of 50 to 100 euros to stop harming the younger boy. The 17-year-old was taken into custody after he accepted two marked 50-euro banknotes from his alleged victim. The older boy’s father was also arrested on charges of neglecting a minor. Neither teenage suspect’s identity was revealed.
