National judo team pins down burglars
If you want to break into someone’s property to steal something, it is probably a good idea to stay away from professional sportsmen – or as in the case of a break-in yesterday, make sure the entire Greek national judo team is not at home when you decide to pay a visit. Police said that two men broke into the Aghios Cosmas sports complex in southern Athens early yesterday in an attempt to steal sporting equipment. The center, built for the Athens 2004 Olympics, is used by several national teams for training purposes. At the moment, it is housing the judo squad. According to officers, the two burglars, both foreign nationals, were noticed when they entered the rooms where the athletes were sleeping. The judokas woke up and apprehended the two men, holding them until police arrived.
