Exam scandal still brewing

As some 600 senior high school pupils sat their International Baccalaureate exams, it emerged yesterday that the controversy over cheating during last year’s exam has not yet been settled. An investigation was launched last year after it emerged that students at one of the 13 private colleges in Greece that offer the prestigious IB course had the exam questions before sitting an end-of-year test. The judicial investigation into the allegations of cheating has yet to result in charges being brought but the Federation of Private School Teachers of Greece (OIELE) suggested yesterday that there has been a cover-up, as more than one school was involved. «There is serious evidence that proves extensive breaches of the law and lack of action from the Education Ministry in taking disciplinary action against those involved,» OIELE president Michalis Kouroutos told Kathimerini.
