High temperatures…
A man uses a newspaper to shield his face from the sun in central Athens yesterday. The long hot spell that has sent temperatures and humidity soaring in most parts of the country is expected to peak today. Temperatures in Athens, central Greece and parts of the Peloponnese are expected to reach a high of 41C (106F). However, according to the head of the National Meteorological Service, Dimitris Ziakopoulos, northwesterly winds will bring a drop of about 3 degrees tomorrow and another 2-3C over the weekend.
