Nick Calathes scores against Russia

Greece’s Nick Calathes evades Russia’s Evgeny Voronov to score at the World Basketball Championship in Turkey yesterday. Greece lost the game 73-69 but the defeat may work in its favor, as it means the national side finished third in its group and is likely to face France, rather than world champion Spain, in the next round. Coach Jonas Kazlauskas rejected accusations from his Russia counterpart, David Blatt, that Greece lost the game on purpose. Russia will probably face Spain in the knockout stage.
