European Mobility Week…

Environment Minister Tina Birbili (left) sits on a makeshift lawn set out on Panepistimiou Street in central Athens on Saturday in observance of European Mobility Week which started on Thursday and runs to Wednesday. The city center was closed to traffic between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday to make way for activities organized by the City of Athens and associations representing pedestrians. The aim of the campaign is to raise public awareness of road safety regulations and to boost use of the capital’s public transportation network.
