Two lost on Mt Olympus

Rescue workers in the region of Mount Olympus, northern Greece, yesterday continued their search for an 85-year-old climber missing since Sunday, as fears grew for the well-being of a 37-year-old French environmental scientist, who has been unaccounted for since she started research in the area earlier this month. The 85-year-old, a climbing enthusiast from Larissa, had been with a group of around 40 other mountaineers on Sunday. He is believed to have become lost from the rest of the group after stopping for a break on the mountain trail. As for the scientist, the last time she was seen was in mid-October. A local shepherd said he saw her climbing a footpath leading up the mountain. There are fears for the health and safety of both missing people, as the weather is expected to deteriorate over the next few days with forecasts of snowfall at higher altitudes.
