Power plant workers protest reform plans

An employee of the Public Power Corporation (PPC) stands on coal dust during a protest rally outside the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Ministry in Athens yesterday. Power plant workers oppose the government’s plans to grant private investors access to Greece’s coal deposits, currently run by state-run PPC. Earlier this year, the government rejected calls by the country’s international creditors for the sell-off of 40 percent of PPC’s lignite mines.
