A woman walks toward a dumpster overflowing with rubbish in Athens yesterday. City Hall appealed to people not to put out their trash for the next few days after municipal garbage collectors extended strike action launched on Friday with a 48-hour strike that is due to end at midnight tomorrow. The workers, who are demanding better pay and job security, are planning a protest rally outside the Interior Ministry in the center of Athens today.
