Pedion tou Areos park…

A boy watches a fountain spraying several jets of water simultaneously yesterday in the renovated Pedion tou Areos park near central Athens. The new square was opened to the public in an official ceremony launched by Athens-Piraeus Super-Prefect Dina Bei. The revamp, financed using 9.6 million euros in European Union subsidies and state funding, included the planting of 1,200 trees, 2,000 rose bushes and more than 50,000 others flowers and plants. Bei described the new park as a ‘jewel’ and called on Athenians to enjoy and protect it.
