New home port for Myconos coke cruiser

An Athens psychiatrist’s luxury motor cruiser that was confiscated after small quantities of drugs were found aboard in the summer has been recommissioned as a coast guard patrol boat in the southern Cyclades, the Merchant Marine Ministry said yesterday. The 24-meter Therapin was confiscated from Petros Lyberis after Myconos harbor police discovered 15 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of marijuana and six methadone pills on board. The June 2 raid followed the disembarkation of celebrity passengers that included pop singer Sakis Rouvas and comedian Lakis Lazopoulos. The luxury craft, which was confiscated under a law targeting organized crime, will now be based on Ios and will patrol the seas around Ios, Folegandros, Sikinos and Santorini. Her former owner is in prison pending trial for drugs offenses. During talks late on Tuesday with Papandreou, US Secretary of State Colin Powell expressed his gratitude for Greece’s support for the US in the wake of the attacks and for Greek assistance to US military forces.
