TUESDAY President Costis Stephanopoulos, accompanied by deputy foreign ministers Yiannis Magriotis and Andreas Loverdos, pays a five-day visit to South Africa. He is to meet with his South African counterpart, Thabo Mbeki, to discuss bilateral and international issues. Foreign Minister George Papandreou to meet Education Minister Petros Efthymiou and Public Order Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis to discuss Greece’s forthcoming assumption of the rotating European Union presidency. The head of Sweden’s chiefs-of-staff, General Johan Hederstedt, is in Athens to Wednesday. WEDNESDAY The British Embassy in cooperation with Kathimerini present a lecture by Lord David Puttnam on «Filmmaking: The Moral Imagination» at the Athens Plaza Hotel. Olympic Airways pilots stage a three-hour work stoppage, from 8-11 a.m. in protest at OA management’s decision to cut flight routes and reduce the number of aircraft. Anti-war rally is held at the Venizelos statue in Thessaloniki at 6.30 p.m. FRIDAY Prime Minister of Bulgaria Simeon Saxe-Coburg pays an official visit to Athens. Deputy Sports Minister Giorgos Lianis visits Sofia, Bulgaria. He is expected to meet with Bulgarian Sports Minister Vassil Ivanov and to inaugurate Bulgaria’s Olympic Center.
