No active fronts in Patra wildfire

The Fire Service was evacuating a public nursing home and a hospital in the western port city of Patra on Tuesday as a wildfire closed in on the facilities.

Stoked by strong winds, the fire, which started on the outskirts of Aroi, is burning through woodland and brush, and is spreading to Pagona, a neighboring suburb that includes the Patra municipal nursing home and the Karamandeio Hospital.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Fire Service evacuated the Merimna care facility for disabled children and homes in its general vicinity as a precaution.
