Municipalities and climate crisis

No civil protection system can work unless the local government is actively involved. 

It is provocative to watch local officials pointing fingers at the central government after every natural disaster, when they have not bothered to unblock a stream bed or clear a plot of land of dead wood. 

The lessons of last summer’s mega-fires are that local authorities must adapt their mission to the needs of the climate crisis.
