‘Not a zealot’
Re: «Bishop Kills Summit of Religions» in Kathimerini’s February 18 edition. I congratulate Metropolitan Panteleimon of Thessaloniki for his courageous stand. It is not simply «zealot» Orthodox who object to the syncretism and ecumenism based on disregard for the doctrinal difference in some sections of the Hierarchy of the Orthodox Church. I believe Orthodox eyes around the world are closely watching events in the Church of Greece – I know mine are, and I am not a «zealot.» I belong to an Archdiocese under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical patriarch. Metropolitan Panteleimon deserves a shout of «Axios!» from Orthodox Christians around the world. GEORGE GEORGIADIS, Australia
