BALKANS: Paris, 21 – (From our correspondent Spyros Theodorou.) The Rome correspondent for the Paris newspaper Le Monde has reported that a tripartite «Balkan» military treaty has been signed between Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary in response to a Balkan Pact signed in Ankara between Greece, Turkey and Yugoslavia. Military forces of the former three Cominform states are to be put at the disposal of Russian Field Marshal Koniev. PSYCHICO QUARRIES: The Psychico Quarries are pleased to inform engineers, contractors, et cetera, that, as of March 16, they are able to provide products of excellent quality in any quantity from the quarries at the following price: gravel at 20,000 drachmas per cubic meter (…). VILLA-LOBOS: This morning at 11 o’clock at the Orpheas Theater, the Athens State Theater is to give a concert conducted by the Brazilian composer Mr Heitor Villa-Lobos. SKALKOTTAS: Under the auspices of the education minister, Mr Kallias, there will be a screening this morning at 11 o’clock at the Astor Cinema of the film «Captain Horatio Hornblower,» starring Gregory Peck. Proceeds will go toward the publication of the works of (…) Nikos Skalkottas. Universal of Vienna has just released a suite for string instruments by the Greek composer.
