BULGARIAN MILITARY CAMP: London, 26 – According to reports from Sofia, 8,000 people are being held in concentration camps around Sviston in Bulgaria (…). Apart from Bulgarian nationals, there are many foreigners being held at the camp, mainly Yugoslavs, Greeks, Turks and Macedonians. IONIAN AND POPULAR BANK MERGER: The Popular Bank has submitted an application to the Trade Ministry requesting approval for a general assembly of shareholders in order to discuss the question of a merger with the Ionian Bank. The application was submitted based on the recent law passed in Parliament «on the merger of banks SA.» THE SHOW MUST GO ON: Last night the premiere of Arthur Schnitzler’s play «Liebelei» was performed at the Kyveli Theater by the Lambeti-Pappas-Horn theater company. Last night something happened which was not such a rare occurrence among theater folk. The actress Elli Lambeti’s father died yesterday and despite her grief and sorrow she came to the theater and went on stage for the premiere. No one in the audience had the slightest idea that anything unusual had happened. NEO HALANDRI: The settlement of Neo Halandri does not have even one telephone. The Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) should see to the problem (…) so that a telephone can be installed at a kiosk run by a disabled war veteran to serve the community.
