KARAMANLIS ON THE MOVE: 21 – The minister for public works, Mr Constantine Karamanlis, accompanied by two senior ministry officials, leaves today for a tour of the Peloponnese and is due to return on Tuesday. He will inspect the road network, irrigation work at Pamisos and visit the towns of Corinth, Argos, Tripolis, Sparta and Kalamata in order to collect all the information necessary, in cooperation with local ministry services, to plan public works for the new financial year. BALKANS: Paris, 21 – (From our correspondent Spyros Theodorou) The Rome correspondent for the Paris newspaper Le Monde has reported that a tripartite «Balkan» military treaty has been signed between Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary in response to a Balkan Pact signed in Ankara between Greece, Turkey and Yugoslavia. Military forces of the former three Cominform states are to be put at the disposal of Russian Field Marshal Koniev. FOREIGN PARTICIPANTS ON NATIONAL DAY: 24 – It has been officially announced that during the celebration of Greece’s Independence Day on March 25, navy bands from the USA, Great Britain and France will be playing in the parade. ART FOR AMERICA: The artists’ association Our Workshop yesterday held a dinner at the Platon taverna in honor of our art critic Angelos Prokopios who recently returned from the USA.
