No crime in being wealthy

Some of the points made during the cabinet meeting last week were unfair toward those law-abiding citizens who have worked hard to earn a high standard of living. There those among PASOK?s supposedly modernist-minded who seem to believe that anyone who happens to own property in an upmarket neighborhood is by definition a tax dodger and a thief.

This is ludicrous. Sure, there are tax dodgers with swimming pools and luxurious villas; and the state ought to track them down and make them pay. But because the Greek state and politicians won?t or simply can?t do so, they prefer instead to defame all wealthy people indiscriminately.

We don?t expect our politicians to appreciate healthy entrepreneurship as one of the driving forces behind economic growth.

How could they, given that most of them started out their careers behind a political party desk, away from the risks and the anxieties of ordinary people?
