CENTER: It has been officially announced that after brief negotiations, complete agreement has been reached between the leaders of the Liberals, Mr Sophocles Venizelos, and of the Democratic Socialist Party, Mr George Papandreou, to merge their parties. The DSP unanimously decided on the merger, with specific authorities for its leader. CENTER-LEFT: The general council of the EPEK party convened a meeting yesterday afternoon that was chaired by its leader, Field Marshal Nikolaos Plastiras, in order to discuss the forthcoming party congress and the departure of 12 dissatisfied parliamentary deputies (led by Georgios Kartalis). The congress is to be held in Thessaloniki shortly. EXILED: The Attica prefecture security committee has sentenced 39 communists, arrested trying to cause a riot at the Kentrikon Theater on Labor Day, to exile on the island of Aghios Efstratios for one year. The committee also sentenced another 10 communists to Trikeri for the same period of time. FOOTBALL: At a match for the Greek Cup, Oympiakos defeated PAO 2-1 and AEK beat Panonios, also 2-1. FAIRY TALE: This afternoon at the Kyveli Theater there will be a repeat performance of the fairy tale «Unlucky Man, Lucky Woman» with Elli Lambeti and Dimitris Horn.
