FALLEN IN ACTION IN KOREA: London, 23 – According to reports from the town of Pusan, the funeral service of four Greek airmen was held yesterday at a cemetery near the town. The pilots had recently been killed in action in Korea. The heroes are Second Lieutenant Vassileios Estiantonis, First Lieutenant Vassileios Papadakis, Warrant Officer Giorgios Billas and Flight Sergeant Panos Lambrou. ANDREAS PAPANDREOU: Patras, 23 (From our correspondent) – This afternoon, the co-leader of the Liberal party Mr George Papandreou arrived in town with his son Andreas, who is a professor at the University of Minnesota. He was welcomed at the station by his friends. SHORT SKIRTS: The Education Ministry has announced that in this year’s gymnastic exhibitions by schools, to be held at the Panathinaic Stadium, schoolgirls will wear short skirts so that they may exercise in comfort. However, they must wear normal length skirts during the parade in front of the officials. GOLD SOVEREIGN: The market in gold sovereigns had been calm for some weeks but rumors of a compulsory loan, that was denied categorically by the relevant minister, caused an upheaval. Last Thursday (May 21) the price of the gold sovereign rose suddenly to 316,500 drachmas (…). After the rumor was refuted on Friday, the price dropped to 304,000 drachmas.
