The right to free expression

One of the landmark achievements of democracy in this country is the right to free speech without the risk of being subjected to any kind of bodily harm, suffering defamation or anything else for that matter.

For a long period of time, this major achievement did not apply within the grounds of Greek universities, for instance, where certain people managed to impose their point of view through the use of violence or just by threatening to resort to it.

There is no single certified center that holds a monopoly on the truth, democratic procedures or the correct recording of history and patriotism and which is qualified to hand out certificates of loyalty.

Over the last few years Greek society has noticeably matured while all the monopolies and ideological fortifications of the post-dictatorship era have tumbled down.

This is why it would be wise for everyone to realize that neither fear nor threats will be tolerated in Greek democracy?s field of juxtaposed opinions.
