Showing our best face

Europe?s leadership must act decisively and with generosity if it wants Greece to maintain political and social stability and see the country remain in the eurozone. Any more delays and humiliation may lead Greece to having an ?accident? that would cost the rest of Europe dearly as well.

On the other hand there is the image Greece projects of itself abroad, and this is not in reference to the protests that echo the people?s rage and desperation. The level of discourse in Parliament, the extreme, ludicrous clashes between politicians and certain ministers? reluctance to implement measures that have just been ratified paint a picture of an unreliable, unbalanced country, and why would anyone entrust money to a country that seems to be on the brink of collapse?

Everyone must rise to the occasion ? the government, the opposition and the media ? with a cool head and cohesion. This is the best way to be able to make demands of our partners so they too may live up to their promises.
