Universities are turning a page

Greek university professors, including academic staff at the National Technical University, finally voted for new governing councils. The violent, unreasonable minority eventually proved unable to impose its will, despite all the threats and explicit attempts to intimidate academics.

Greek society is maturing and is now bypassing the extremists and vested interests that are responsible for the sad state of Greek universities in the first place.

When both the state and its politicians display that they what it takes, laws are imposed and progress is made.

The extremism of power-hungry politicians who identify with vested interests leaves society’s majority cold, as most Greeks are in favor of good, well-organized and clean universities for their children, as opposed to faculties which become prey to masked youths, leaders of university student parties and rectors who gained their position through political connections.
