A resounding ‘no’ to violence

The violence, verbal attacks and overall despicable behavior that we have seen over the past few years has to stop right now. For at least the past two years Greece has been witnessing an increasing number of violent outbursts by members of the public against politicians, while racist attacks and politically motivated beatings at universities and other places have als

o multiplied.

Such phenomena should be treated with great caution. They are very dangerous and must be strictly dealt with by the state. They must also be condemned by society.

When it comes to violence, there is no justification. No one deserves it.

The violence we have seen leveled against migrants, politicians, academics and others is unacceptable whatever the skin color or the political affiliation of the victim.

We must protect our democracy and we must safeguard society from being sucked into this spiral of violence to the point that we experience civil strife.
