THALIA FLORA-KARAVIA: (From a review by art critic Angelos G. Prokopis): «I was extremely moved by the portrait of Mrs P. Hari, executed by the skillful hand of Thalia Flora-Karavia. The work is yet another confirmation of the amazingly expressive power of this talented woman, who for 50 years now has been at the forefront of the Greek expressionist school. Where does she find the reserves of strength with which to enthrall us with her self-discipline and her acute sense of color? TELE-EXAMINATION: Professor Skevos Zervos made a successful experiment in tele-examining recently at the Parnassos Hall in the presence of Mr E. Tsouderos and other officials. FOOTBALL: London, 1 – During yesterday’s football match in Montevideo, the national team of Uruguay defeated their British opponents 2 -1. IN THE JUNGLE: Hania, 2 – Rethymnon police have arrested C.G., a barber aged 16, and V.K. and N.S., both aged 15, who work in soap manufacturing, all residents of Moschato, Athens, as they were disembarking from a passenger ship in the port of Hania. They aroused suspicion as they were carrying various tools, compasses, thermometers and pharmaceutical goods. The three testified during their interrogation that they were intending to walk to Aghios Nikolaos, in the prefecture of Lasithi, and from there go by small boat to Africa in order to explore the jungle.
