This service, which is so vital to our faltering economy, has suffered from years of damaging management, which was epitomized by the persistent intervention from various officials and unionists.
Part of the reason that Greece finds itself trying to battle its way out of bankruptcy is this denigration of our tax collection service. Now, we have to change direction and our politicians must realize that the practices of the past must stop dead in their tracks.
It will not be easy because they have learnt to operate in this manner over the past decades. However, there is no other way that we can create a modern and just state.
