A reaction beyond reason

The reaction of unionists and those standing on the left side of the political spectrum to the efforts being made in order to establish a set of rudimentary rules that would stop the center of the Greek capital from coming to a standstill every other day because of some small-scale demonstration or another, is truly inexplicable.

This is not the first time a government is attempting to put an end to the phenomenon of a few people being able to block central streets whenever they feel like it.

Over the years this kind of practice has contributed to a number of local establishments going out of business. It has also led to residents and tourists having to go through a lot of hassle for no particular reason.

While no one wants to curb people’s right to protest, an effort is finally being made to protect citizens who understand exactly how disastrous the frequent protests that shut down the city center are.
