A common front

The way in which certain groups and politicians on the left are refusing to unequivocally condemn violence as a means of protest and expression is nothing short of impressive.

The common front against the criminal activities of the extreme right-wing Golden Dawn party is an opportunity for the country’s political system to once and for all renounce, as well as treat with utmost severity and zero tolerance, every single act of violence, no matter where this deplorable behavior stems from.

This is not about the theory of the two extremes, but rather the need for all parties vying for the popular vote – and eventually for the power to govern – to isolate all kinds of extremist voices which are acting as advocates, if not defenders, of the so-called “justified” violence.

There is no such thing as “justified” violence in a democracy.
