Forming a common front

It goes without saying that Greece is a republic with laws and institutions, and it is with these tools that the democratic system is currently attempting to deal with a very tough and very dangerous threat.

The fact is that we need to respect these laws and the country’s institutions, and to allow them to get on with their jobs without any unnecessary interference.

At the same time, however, we must also show great resolve in not allowing the enemies of democracy to pull Greece down the dangerous slope of violence, vulgarity, fear and destabilization.

What is needed more than anything else, however, is for a common front to be formed by political forces and others who can influence developments and who still have a sense of responsibility for the future of the nation.

At turbulent times such as these, it is absolutely crucial for everyone to step up to the plate and take responsibility for their words and actions for the good of the whole.
