KARAMANLIS’S WORK: There was a meeting at the Public Works Ministry yesterday with the participation of the ministers of public works and transport, as well as several relevant officials from both ministries, the Athens chief of police, representatives of transport and drainage services and the contractors refurbishing Patission and Vassilissis Sofias avenues. The agenda focused on accelerating the speed of work on both of these streets. The Electric Transport Company was asked to set a specific date for the trolley buses to begin circulation and to specify when exactly the tramlines will be removed. KARAMANLIS’S FORCE OF CHARACTER: Public Works Minister Constantine Karamanlis has told representatives of the transport company that if the trams are not withdrawn from circulation by the time the two streets are completed, the tramlines will be removed. Karamanlis said that the works being done in Athens should indicate that in Greece it is possible for good public works to be carried out speedily. KATERINA – FOTOPOULOS: Performances of the wonderful comedy «The Minister on Tour» by Weber are continuing with great success at the Katerina Theater in Kyriakou Square. The leading roles are being interpreted by Madame Katerina and the comic actor Mr Fotopoulos.
