OPINION

Candidate selection

Political parties often become isolated power systems that communicate only with their own party members and are only interested in their “clients.”

In this way they end up making disastrous choices when it comes to picking candidates for local government, as they disregard society, whose members know exactly who’s who in every town and region.

Citizens do not wish to vote for mayors who are constant fixtures on our television screens or who have become party icons.

They are looking for capable, successful fellow-citizens who will put their municipalities into some kind of order, use any possible funding that communities might be eligible for in infrastructure works, as well as solve some longstanding everyday life issues.

We, the citizens, must demand and throw our support behind these type of candidacies, while at the same time voting against all those who represent their parties and no one else.
