A system looking out for its own

It is hard to believe that even today, with the country going through a sixth year of relentless recession, a certain number of the Greek Parliament’s elected members carry on defending the need not to abolish a number of completely useless organizations that continue to exist in the public sector.

This is the kind of position for which Greek taxpayers have already paid a hefty price.

Now they are being driven to despair as they observe that the local political system continues to support its own people.

Nevertheless, it is nothing short of shameful to observe Greek army officers and doctors, for instance, getting paid meager salaries while other people are still getting paid for doing absolutely nothing.
