A stabilizing force

PASOK’s role as the junior partner in Greece’s coalition government led by the New Democracy conservatives is extremely crucial to ensuring political stability.

Despite the complaints that a good part of citizens have regarding the Socialist party, the truth is that it has managed to shoulder a significant part of the responsibility, the burden, and the hefty political cost that has come with the major effort to keep the debt-wracked country afloat.

That said, everyone knows that the once-dominant Socialist party is going through its own profound crisis right now. Its ratings are at an all-time low.

However, the good news is that the main protagonists of the PASOK drama understand the need to put the stability of the country ahead of their own individual objectives and ambitions.

The commitment of these officials to the government has significantly decreased the risk of an even bigger political crisis and complete instability.
