Skewed taxes

It is essential that the government find a way to adjust the property values used for tax purposes so they match commercial property values as determined by the local market.

Property owners in Greece have been punished over the last few years as a result of the political system’s inefficiency and a lack of political will-power to seriously tackle a major issue that has been plaguing the country and its economy for a very long time now – tax evasion.

Increasingly, these property owners are finding themselves squeezed to the limits and nothing angers them more than the fact that they are being asked to pay taxes on their properties whose value is based on unrealistic calculations that do not reflect the real estate market’s current prices.

This kind of injustice, which is hitting certain areas across the country particularly severely, must be brought to an end.
