Irresponsible opposition

The main opposition SYRIZA party is trying to win support by promising handouts and privileges all around. That said, leftist leader Alexis Tsipras is not the first Greek politician to adopt this strategy.

However, we had hoped that the crisis would make the new generation of politicians act more maturely and would signal the end of irresponsible opposition and all the bad habits that it usually entails.

People need to ask themselves who will pay for all of these promises to be met.

How will Tsipras handle the anger of the electorate and the pressure that will be exerted on him when he dashes people’s hopes if he is elected prime minister?

Yes, it is true that most opposition leaders have made the same promises, but this is no excuse to continue a tradition that played such a key role in the country going bankrupt.
