Oblivious to change

The world around us is undergoing many important changes while we sit around stewing in our own juices.

US President Barack Obama is actually talking with Cuba’s Raul Castro, for example, but here in Greece our politicians can’t seem to find any point of agreement even on the most basic issues.

Cuba, the last bastion of a failed socialist model, started changing a while ago, as of course did China. Nevertheless, here in Greece, a part of the opposition continues to believe in the socialist dream, itching to try it.

These people are clearly completely oblivious to what is going on around the world.

But the most unfortunate thing is that there is a part of the population which has grown desperate enough to be taken in by such unfounded and outdated ideas, ideas that would lead the country to complete poverty and isolation.
