Righting the wrongs

A country that wants to move forward should study and deal with its past mistakes in a mature and responsible manner. Greece was hit by an unprecedented debt crisis and it came to the brink of fiscal collapse because the political system was spending like there was no tomorrow, while at the same time increasing its public debt.

The country gradually created the conditions for what we are all going through today from the 1980s onward. This government has regrettably chosen the easy way of dealing with the problem, which pretty much boils down to staging witch hunts against its political rivals.

This manner of dealing with things has never done the country any good. It always ends up in a vicious circle and drags everybody down. It is important that we know the truth about what led us to the situation we find ourselves in today. The worst thing would be to come out of the crisis without righting the wrongs that brought the disaster upon us.
