KALOMIRIS: London, 24 – The opera by Greek composer Manolis Kalomiris «The Shadowy Waters» was broadcast last night on the Third Progam of London radio and was a resounding success. In the hall where the opera was staged, the auditorium, packed with a select audience including some of the most distinguished figures in the world of British music today, echoed to enthusiastic applause. The music critics characterized this performance of the particular work as one of the most important cultural events of the current year. Kalomiris’s opera will be performed once more on Monday, October 26. KAZANTZAKIS: New books – «Captain Michalis,» a novel by Nikos Kazantzakis, Mavridis Publications, Athens, 1953. FIRST APPEARANCE BY VOUYIOUKLAKI: The music score of the film «The Little Mouse» by Nikos Tsiforos was recorded yesterday at the Anzervos studio. The film, written by G. Asimakopoulos, president of the Playwrights’ Association, stars Aliki Vouyiouklaki, a student at the National Theater’s Drama School, in her first film role, and a young actor from the Mousouris theater company, G. Lefteriotis.
