DISMANTLING TRAMLINES: As of 2 o’clock on the morning of Monday, November 17, work crews from the Ministry of Public Works began removing the tramlines along Patission Street and Vassilissis Sofias Avenue. The removal of the track, being carried out for the power company, is expected to be completed within five days along Patission Street from Omonia Square to the Polytechnic. In the meantime, in order to serve the extra number of passengers, the joint private bus companies have increased the number of their buses on the Patission and Ambelokipi lines since the trams stopped running. The minister of public works, Mr Constantine Karamanlis, personally supervised the teams removing the rails since the company in question has been trying to continue the service. CONSTANTINE RODOPOULOS: During yesterday’s (November 17) session of Parliament, Mr Constantine Rodopoulos, the parliamentary deputy for Larissa for the Greek Rally party, was elected parliamentary speaker.
