NEW DRACHMA COINS: New coins valued at 5, 2 and 1 drachma and 50, 20, 10 and 5 lepta have an insignia of King Pavlos on the one side and a work by the artist Falireas on the other, at the suggestion of the minister for coordination, Spyros Markezinis… The 20, 10 and 5 lepta coins will have a hole in the middle. KILO AND METER: The minister of trade minister, Mr Papaligouras, is to table a bill in Parliament after the holidays introducing the metric system into Greece, establishing the kilo as a measure of weight, replacing the oka, and the meter, replacing the old measure of length («pihis» = 64 centimeters).
