GREECE-BULGARIA: Thessaloniki, 30 – The Greek and Bulgarian delegations today signed the final protocols determining their countries’ common borders. (…) The foreign minister, Mr Stefanos Stefanopoulos made the following statements yesterday evening in Athens: «The signing in Thessaloniki of the final protocol by the joint Greek-Bulgarian committee puts an end to a situation that for many years has had so many unpleasant consequences in the Evros area on the Greek-Bulgarian border.» NEW DRACHMA COINS: New coins valued at 5, 2 and 1 drachmas and 50, 20, 10 and 5 lepta have an insignia of King Pavlos on the one side and a work by the artist Falireas on the other. METRIC SYSTEM: The minister of trade, Mr Papaligouras, is to table a bill in Parliament after the holidays which will introduce the metric system into Greece. BEAR IN TOWN: A bear, obviously having lost its way due to the heavy snow that was falling, wandered into the town of Grevena yesterday and managed to get as far as the provincial authority’s office. It fled after being shot at by two police officers.
